Visual Storytelling:MSNBC.com debuts iPredict (Lost Remote)
MSNBC's Flash-based iPredict mechanism puts a new spin on polling.
From Lost Remote:"The application visualizes the public’s votes against your vote, storing your previous predictions with a cookie," says Rex Sorgatz from MSNBC. "When you return to the prediction later, you can change your vote. You see how your vote has changed over time, graphed out in comparison to everyone else’s prediction.”
Web-based polls are little more than interactive catnip ("Lookee here! Something to click!"). iPredict is no different, but at least it looks good.
Voice of the People:
Fans Bring "Jericho" Back from the Dead (Filmfodder)
TV fans are a powerful bunch, especially when they've got access to 20 tons of nuts.
Fans of CBS' recently cancelled "Jericho" launched a letter-writing/nut-sending (no joke) campaign to save the drama from the chopping block. And lo and behold: It worked. CBS has ordered seven new episodes for a 2008 mid-season broadcast and there's the potential for more.
In case you're wondering (I'm sure you are), the nuts thing stems from a line of dialogue ("Nuts!") in the season one finale.
"Jericho's" resurrection is a quaint little story, but TV fans looking to make a real difference should ship 20 tons of brown coats to Fox and get "Firefly" back on the air.
Disclosure: I own Filmfodder, the site referenced in the headline link. It's a nice place. You should visit.
