Web, Tech: Google Personalized Home Page Now "iGoogle"
"Personalized Home Page" doesn't really roll off the tongue, so Google has renamed its customized page "iGoogle" (Apple homage or future lawsuit? You make the call.). Like My Yahoo and My MSN and every other "my" system out there, iGoogle provides one-stop shopping for news, weather, email and info widgets (or gadgets, or whatever we're calling them today).

0507-igoogle-logo.jpg Rob Hof at BusinessWeek says iGoogle's killer app is the make your own gadget tool, which brings customized gadget functionality to regular folks.

Web, Citizen Journalism: ABCNEWS.com Relaunches with Cit J Focus
ABCNEWS.com is marking its 10th anniversary with a dramatic redesign and a new focus on citizen journalism. Michael Clemente, senior executive producer, outlines the Cit J emphasis in his redesign letter:

The new site is designed to harness the power of community. And by community we mean "citizen reporters," our viewers and readers who help us report the news by contributing, commenting and telling us what they know. The redesigned ABCNEWS.com makes it much easier for our Internet users to add to the facts, ask questions of newsmakers and make their voices heard.

Users will also find it much easier to submit to us video from cell phones and their home video cameras -- video that we may choose to broadcast on our site or on one of our television news programs.

That last sentence hints at a future discussion: at what point will "prosumer" citizen journalists demand payment, credits, etc.?
