Journalism Project: Redefining Boston (Emerson College)A group of very smart, very witty, and very talented graduate students at Emerson College have just launched "Redefining Boston," a site chronicling the lives and interests of Boston's 18-30 demographic.
The site's mission is described on its About page:
"Whether they [18-30 year olds] talk politics over drinks in Central Square, run down Beacon Street to stay healthy, sing a cappella at Boston University, stay wired to work even when not at the office, or volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, 18- to 30-year-olds are making their mark. They are reshaping the city just as it reshapes them. They are redefining Boston. This project gave us the rewarding chance to talk to and learn about our peers, an increasingly influential group in Boston. So take some time to browse through our Web site and get a sense of how this new generation, with a new focus, is redefining Boston."I had the pleasure of teaching many of these students. Great job, guys!
Journalism Education: Stop asking me “Is blogging journalism?” (Online Journalism Blog)
Paul Bradshaw heads off end-of-semester interview requests with preemptive answers to two common student questions:
- Do you consider blogging a form of journalism? Why or why not?
- Since a lot of bloggers are not professional journalists, how do you think blogging can be made more credible?
