Joost Lands CBS Content
CBS is opening some of its current and archival material to upstart video service Joost. Programming includes ratings-grabbers like the "CSI" franchise and "Survivor."It's a big moment for Joost since this is the first major network to join the nascent service. As we've seen time and again, the single biggest hook for any video service is compelling content. If a service gets it, it's got a chance. If it doesn't, it becomes another promising technology that quickly drifts out of pop culture consciousness.
I've been playing with Joost for the last week or so and I'm quite impressed with the interface. It's easy to use and responsive and I'd be compelled to use it regularly if my favorite shows were available (unfortunately, CBS' procedural-heavy material just isn't my cup of tea -- bring on "Battlestar" baby!). Also impressive is the early availability of a Mac client (take note, developers!), although it'd be nice if they looped the non-Intel models into their offerings.
Comments:
sounds like Joost is on its way to becoming the next big thing.
Was wondering if you had any other invitations for beta testing. I'd love to try it out.
