Feedburner Email Subscriptions: Grassroots Publicity Tool
I estimate that I've lost at least 10 good years of my life editing and producting email newsletters. They are a colossal pain the ass, especially if you want to deliver -- GASP -- HTML newsletters.
Up until recently, I had given up on the email newsletter publicity route ... but then I ran across Feedburner's email newsletter service.
It's as though Feedburner crawled into my subconscious and brought forth the newsletter tool I always wanted, but feared would never come to fruition.
The genius of this system is that it takes something you already publish -- an RSS feed -- and automatically transitions it into a functional email newsletter. That means you can have all the benefits of a newsletter -- return traffic, brand building, publicity -- without any of the production headaches.
Newsletter devotees will undoubtedly take issue with Feedburner's sparse newsletter design and the lack of advertising opportunities, but if you're looking for a fast and effective way to add a newsletter to your publicity efforts, this method is definitely worth a look.
